What caused the continents to change size?

A lot of factors and processes caused the continents to change in size. Most of them also helped in changing their shapes as well. These processes are group into two (2) based on where they take place. 1."The External Processes",these are those that takes place on the earth surface and they are: a.Weathering b.Mass wasting c.Erosion and d.Denudation, While, 2."The Internal Processes" are those that occurs from within or inside the Earths crust and they are: a.Vulcanicity b.Tectonics c.Earthquakes and d.Action of underground water. These external and internal processes works hand in hand in re-structuring,re-sculpting and re-shaping the earths landforms thereby changing the sizes of the continents and re-cycling its materials and compositions.

Did the earths continent shift?

Why 2 continents that may have once fit together no longer appear to fit again?

You mean like Africa and South America? (grin). At one time, they did fit together. The constant movement of earths tectonic plates has caused them to move into their current positions - which are constantly changing, too. thank you a lot
