The original docks have all closed down, mainly because modern ships are now too big to use them and now berth elsewhere. The area has been transformed into residential accommodation - some of it from refurbished warehouses, new office blocks and some light industry. Many of the newspaper publishers who used to be in central London have now moved to Docklands, as has the Billingsgate Fish Market. London City Airport is now on the site of the old King George V dock.
