A Conservative is someone who wishes to conserve the Republic as defined by the Constitution of the US. Now if you want to talk about conservatives with a small 'c', that's another story. Jefferson was less a 'liberal' and more a revolutionary. Again, by definition. Thomas Jefferson was a ideologically a republican, in today's terms he was a conservative for conserving the Constitutional Republic.

Conservative politicians and Fox News themselves often talk about the "Mainstream Media" distorting facts withy a liberal bias. Being the largest news channel (by viewers) in the country, and on pretty much every basic cable package one can get, Fox News is very much part of the mainstream media. It falls completely in the conservative side of reporting, with even their more moderate shows still very right wing. Its heavy lean is why people sometimes consider them a "niche" media rather than mainstream.
