I did CPR on Redd the night he passed on. I was young, really young and was working at the hospital. I remember a few things about that night. I remember Redd had a clown tattoo on his chest. I remember the nose. Anyways, I also remember Ms. Reese. She was there. Redd made it out of the ER. He went to ICU and passed on. Ms. Reese was so kind to me. She hugged me and thanked me and kissed me on the cheek. She is absolutely the kindest of souls. I will never forget that night, Redd or Ms. Reese. May he rest in peace and may she live in peace for all of her days.
The entertainment business is all about fantasy, so it makes sense that stars would tweak their names to make a statement. Here are a few of our faves.Stevie Wonder went through a few names before he settled on his legendary moniker. He was born Stevland Hardaway Judkins, and later changed his name to Stevland Hardaway Morris, but we'll always know him as Stevie Wonder. Believe it or not, Bruno Mars is a stage name. He was born Peter Gene Hernandez. When Elizabeth Grant started performing, she chose an evocative name: Lana Del Rey. Nicki Minaj is "slicker than the guy with the thing on his eye," but she wasn't born that way. Her real name is Onika Tanya Maraj, which she edited down into the name we all know and love. Even Rihanna was born with a more ordinary name: Robyn Fenty. Reese Witherspoon is another celeb who pared down her name to fit the headlines. She was born Laura Jean Reese Witherspoon. Not to be confused with actress Kate Hudson, Katy Hudson calls herself Katy Perry on stage. A name like Whoopi Goldberg is too good to be true. She was born Caryn Johnson. Joaquin Phoenix is certainly a memorable name, and the actor displays memorable talent. But he used to be called Rafael Bottom. You might want to sit down for this one. Oprah Winfrey isn't her original name. She was named Orpah, after the biblical sister of Ruth. But when everyone she ever met mispronounced the name "Oprah," she just went with the crowd.
Tuc Watkins from One Life to Live is openly gay.Thom Bierdz a former Young and the Restless star is also openly gay. Also bianca Kane and reese Williams from all my children are gay. (actually I've just done some research and these are gay characters! sorry)This answer taken from similar question: "Is the any gay actors on soap operas?""The only one I can think of at the moment though is Tim Campbell who played Dan in the Aussie soap Home & Away. He only came out after leaving the show though. In the UK, there was also Michael Cashman, who played Colin Russell in Eastenders. And currently in Eastenders there is John Partridge who plays Christian Clarke.John Savident played the very popular character Fred Elliott in Coronation Street. Ian McKellan was also briefly in Coronation Street as Mel Hutchwright. In the US I'm not very knowledgable, but Robert Gant had two small roles in Melrose Place.Chad Allen played Eric Whitlow in General Hospital: Night Shift (is that classed as a soap?)John Barrowman played Peter Williams in the short lived Titans (which was billed in the UK as a soap). The late Dack Rambo had roles in All My Children, Dallas and Another World."Michael French formerly played David Wicks in Eastenders.
