Simon Muzenda. The "Second Vice-President" was Joshua Nkomo, who at the time was better known internationally. Muzenda was, as a fellow tribesman and fellow Party member of President Robert Mugabe, a bit of a lap-dog Vice President. Nkomo was the leader of the rival political party and the leader of of a rival tribe to that of Mugabe, and so much more a counterweight to Mugabe's power. Nkomo was forced into retirement by the mass murder among the members of the Ndebele tribe that supported him. The mass murders by the way were perpetrated under the command of the man who has today become President.
