Norma McCorvey goes by Jane Roe.
Norma Leah (Nelson) McCorvey of Roe v. Wade fame was briefly married to Woody McCorvey, an alleged alcoholic and wife beater. The union produced one child, a daughter, Melissa, who was born after the couple separated. Norma claims her mother kidnapped the child after Norma confessed she had a sexual preference for women. Melissa was raised and later adopted by McCorvey's mother. Norma McCorvey had a longterm live-in relationship with her partner, Connie Gonzales. Although the two still live together, McCorvey became a "former lesbian" when she converted to Christianity and was baptized Catholic. McCorvey says she has also been an ardent pro-life supporter since August 8, 1995. She was arrested in May 2009 for participating in a pro-life rally on the grounds of Notre Dame, in a protest against President Obama's visit.
The father of "Jane Roe," the pseudonym used by Norma McCorvey in the landmark Roe v. Wade case, is David McCorvey. However, the case primarily focused on the legal and constitutional aspects of abortion rights rather than the personal details of McCorvey's life. Norma McCorvey gave birth to a child in 1970, whom she placed for adoption.
