Why do hindus value nature so much?
the thoughts ideas and concepts of hinduis in well attached to india and its georgraphy. even though not completely true, a statement 'the backbone of hinduism is Ramayana and Mahabharata' does make sense. and also, the epics have vivid descriptions of their events in the sands of india. for instance maabharata yudha occured in kurukshetra. rama ruled ayohya. which are the places we know, and are in india. without mentioning these places, no character in the epic can make it complete. with the same token, hinduism, and eventually indians have the culture of worshipping their environment and animals around them. for hindus, cows, snakes etc are sacred. also many trees. the reason being, for every indian god or goddess there is a plant tree or animal is attached. like, cow for lord krishna, rat for ganesha, ox for shiva etc..with this reason, a true 'bhakta' loves and respects his nature and environment too.
