the complete unit need s to be removed. disconnect the battery positive cable. remove wires to the solenoid, marking which one goes where. remove the bolts and get a new one. most auto parts offer lifetime ones. if car will be kept for several years, i suggest spending a few dollars more and getting the lifetime warranty. good luck
