I hate questions like this one. Do you know why? Because I fear that the TEACHERS asking the question of their students are either IGNORANT of the subject matter they are supposed to be teaching or are asking a TRICK question of their students, which is almost always intellectually dishonest. Hopefully, it's just a poorly worded question by the poster of the question. Okay, I'll shut up and answer the question. A quantity of cold air can occupy a greater volume of hot air -- if there is more cold air than hot air!!!! If you've got two liters of cold air, that's a greater volume than one liter of hot air!!!!!! But what if you've got 0.1 kilogram of hot air and 0.1 kilogram of cold air? You've got the same amount of matter, right? They have the same mass: 0.1 kg. Will the hot and cold air occupy the same volume? NO!!! The hot air is less dense, which means it occupies MORE volume per unit mass than the cold air. So, if you have equal masses of hot and cold air, the hot air will have greater volume.
...................HOT AIR HAS GREATER VOLUME THAN COLD AIR..................
It is because hot air is less dense than cold air which means it occupies MORE volume per unit mass than cold air. Hot materials contain more energy than cold materials so hot air expands...
For example: I have 5 kilograms of cold air and 3 kilograms of hot air. Which have greater volume? Of course, cold air have more volume because it has more mass, and more amount of matter but what if there are 5 kilograms of cold air and 5 kilograms of hot air too, do the cold air have the greater volume? No... the cold air now have lesser volume than the hot air even if they have the same mass and the same amount of matter, Hot matter still contain more energy than cold matter...
hot water has more volume than cold water
Normally Hot
No, cold water is piped into the hot water tank and is heated by electricity or gas, it then flows out to the hot water taps.
the pipe with the hot water will.]The piping with cold water as many hydronic systems are over 100 years old and the piping looks as new as the day it was installedAs long as thermo stress and velocity are taken into consideration hot water lines can last longer then their cold countter parts as cold piping becomes more brittle over the years
the hot water valve shut off valve shuts off the hot water. The cold water valve shuts off the cold water. ;()
Standard instillation of a washer identifies the valve s as hot on the left, cold water on the right. In any water instillation, the standards are hot on the left and cold on the right.
Given an identical volume of both to begin with (say, one gallon hot water, and one gallon cold water) they will be identical in weight. However, cold water is more dense than hot water.
No, cold water weighs more (for a given volume) than hot water. This is why there is a thermocline in bodies of water. But when water freezes, the solid form weighs even less (for a given volume), this is why ice floats.
yes 1 mole hot air have more volume then cold air
If you have the same volume of both then there are in cold water more molecules.
Cold water is denser then hot water and weighs more so hot water will always stay on top of cold water no matter the pressure in the line or volume unless forced by flow hot water water will always be on top.
Hot water can be used more wisely by installing a low volume shower head. Washing clothes with cold is also very helpful.
9 for the hot and 5 for the cold. but that answer doesn't have enough volume so what is it
molecules are less agitated and therefore more densely packed together
