I have heard that warm weather states use gas heaters which can be costly.They also have electric heating systems in some of the warm weather state. If it is an issue about the cost of utilities I would go with an electric heating system since the electric bill would be far less than a bill from your local gas company.And again, doesn't hurt to buy some extra blankets.
