Mice are adaptable to almost any shelter. I don't use plastics, I use wood huts, especially woven types. Be careful, some wooden houses can get moldy. Make sure to get something you can get them back out of if you have to/want to. Those woven ball nests are cute, but mice will be very resistant to being removed from them. I like houses I can lift off them if I have to.
