An axon is one part of a nerve cell (neuron). The axon projects from the body of the neuron to another cell to which the neuron connects. Signals move through neurons from one end, called the dendrite, through the cell body, and then through the axon. Once they reach the end of the axon, the signals are then sent to target cells like muscle or other neurons.
