Drag the icon of the application to the trash.
System Preferences can be located either from the Apple Menu, or the Dock icon which looks like a gearset.
Click on the Apple menu icon in the top left corner and select About This Mac. A window will appear saying Mac OS X and underneath it will give the Version 10 dot something.
