You don't. You should respect his wishes and come to an agreement. If he isn't ready to be a father then don't force it because he may not be a good one and you don't want to make your child suffer. It is selfish to force your partner to be a father when he doesn't want to be and it affecting your own child. Wait until everything is stable, talk to him about why he isn't ready. Maybe it is financial reasons (which is a good one to have and would be a responsible reason not to want kids yet) maybe he wants more time with you (again, not a bad reason) or maybe he needs to grow up a little (yet, again, not a bad reason). Try to be empathetic and put yourself in his shoes and talk about it. Don't immediately get defensive about it or he will want to clam up that much more. Let him know that's it's okay that he doesn't want kids yet but ask why and ask him when he might be ready.
