This isn't as uncommon as you may think. Although it's frustrating and it hurts you there isn't much you can do if he likes your friend. However, if your friend knows you like him then she shouldn't date him. Never let a man come between a good friend and you.
Actually, i think that if she likes him then it's fine for them to go out. it hurts a lot but it's unfair to her that he's off limits when they like each other and you're in between them. it's not going to make him or her like you any better (not like he would know) nothing ever said that you cant be in a relationship with someone you like because someone else likes him too, regardless of whether they're a friend or not. it's probable that someone else likes them too, and so it's not worth killing yourself over, but don't try to put them off your friend because that's not going to make them like you any more - think about it.
