Eventually, he will call for you, asking you to come this way or that way, until you finally reach him. He will ask for his lamp when you talk to him. Talk to him again and he will go inside the lamp. Now head up to your houses attic and rub the lamp. He will either give you a randomized item or get rid of some weeds in your town. I think there is another option, but i can't remember it at the moment.
