Give him the space he needs at first. If you feel bad it's probably because he's hurting and you can see it. Let him hurt, and give him time to do his own thing. When he is ready to talk to you, don't push him away. Don't bad mouth him, and let him know that you are there, and that you care. Remember how bad he is hurting and treat him the way you would want to be treated if the situation were reversed. Follow your heart.
