Hi, This means that the engine computer has detected some kind of problem with the engine control systems or perhaps the emission systems. In order to find out what was detected, you would need a code reader to find out what Diagnostic Test Code (DTC) is stored in the computer. Most code readers come with a book that will help decode the DTC. Once you know the code, you will know what system or systems to look at that could be causing the light. It will still have to be diagnosed, but it will point you in the right direction. I have included a link to a list of some of the codes that you may see.
Pulling a fuse will not clear codes on this vehicle. A scan tool is required to clear codes.
First, connect the scan tool to the DTC port located under the driver's side dash next to the steering column. Run the test, write down the codes, finish the test by following the instruction manual in order to correct the malfunction. Then disconnect the scan tool and replace the DTC port cap.?æ
