If the guinea pig is getting an otherwise balanced diet rich in vitamin C and good quality hay, no harm will come.
Guinea pig pellets are small pieces of food that guinea pigs eat. Pellets can be timothy based or alfalfa based. For an adult guinea pig a timothy based pellet is best because alfalfa includes extra protein and calcium that young (under age one) and pregnant guinea pigs need, but adult guinea pigs don't. Pellets should be available to guinea pigs at all times as they are the main part of a guinea pig's diet. Source Guinea pig owner
No. Only feed your guinea pig veggies and some fruit plus timothy hay and pellets. NEVER feed your guinea pig pellets made for rabbits or other animals.
They eat the regular guinea pig diet. Guinea pig pellets, timothy hay, water, chew treats, and get them a chew block or salt chew also to help wear their teeth down.
you feed it pellets or veggies
Yes they can but make sure it's guinea pig muesli! And also it is better to stay on pellets as guinea pigs can be picky. But if you want to use muesli then you can :).
They eat simple grass (or hay) based guinea pig pellets that DO NOT contain seeds, dairy, nuts, dry fruit or colourful pieces. Raw fibre percentage should be around 24% and the pellets should have vitamin C added.
I buy the kaytee Timothy complete pellets and they are about $8 at petco.
No. Only feed your guinea pig vegetables and some fruits plus timothy hay and pellets. NEVER feed them pellets meant for rabbits or other animals. Always check a trusted website to see if it is safe to feed a guinea pig certain veggies or fruits.
Guinea pig pellets are machine made. They contain mostly alfalfa. They have other grains mixed in for a more balanced diet.
You can. Rabbit pellets and guinea pig pellets are essentially the same thing. Guinea pig pellest usually have vitamin C included in their ingredients...which is an essential vitamin for a guinea pig to consume. Other animals, like rabbits, horses etc, make their own vitamin C but guinea pigs don't, so like us, they need to consume it by eating things like apples. My recommendation is that you buy guinea pig pellets; rabbits can eat them as well and you make sure your pig is getting what it needs.
