A new hot water tank wouldn't let the water get as cold. Or you can get out of bed, turn the hot tap on, go back to bed for ten minutes, turn it off, go back to bed 10 minutes then go for the shower and the water will be hotter.
Check your water heater. You may need a new one. In the summer you shower with water of a lower heat temperature. In the winter you demand a greater quantity of water. The water heater is not able to generate that demand because of the build up of sludge and rust in the bottom. See diagrams on Internet about how a water heater works. They have to be replaced eventually if you do not do routine maintenance. A quick fix if you have a large number of people in the household is to be the first to take a shower in the morning. You will get the hot water. They will be left with the tepid water. However, you will eventually have no hot water at all, so just have it replaced and also clean out your shower head by unscrewing the head and soaking it in vinegar to get rid of the minerals that clog it up. Then put the head back on the shower. Hope you have hot showers again soon.

The definition of a tepid sponge bath is just washing up with a wash cloth and a certain temperature of water. It means not getting into the tub or shower at all. Tepid means to use water that is not hot and not cold, mix hot and cold water together with more cold than hot to achieve a tepid temperature.
