Windows 7 license do not "expire". The support for it will end after 2015 and you may updated using Windows Update for as long as it's lifespan. If you are prompted to activate Windows 7 you can do so by retyping the productkey found either on your PC or Windows 7 DVD. If there's been some changes to your PC you might need to activate by phone, but the activation software will guide you through all this. Search for "Activate Windows" from your start-menu to begin.
