Narrator
I heard they're characters featured on the same show.
The character in Canterbury Tales that most resembles Chaucer himself is the narrator, who is also the persona through which Chaucer speaks. Through the narrator, Chaucer presents his views on various social issues and provides a lens through which to view the other characters and stories.
The narrator of the tales comes across as many things, from naive to deceptive. It is incredibly obvious that he is biased in his descriptions of different characters. When describing the Knight, his prejudiced view is apparent. It is easily visible that the narrator is jealous of the valiant knight. However, when describing the prioress he describes her as though he likes her. His naive views, although he sees them as complimentary, highlight the flaws of the different characters in his description.
