General George S. Patton, famous for his 3rd Army breakthrough to Bastogne, a town in Belgium that was surrounded by the German 5th Panzer Army. The American Troops in Bastogne were part of the 101st Airborne Division, commanded by General MacAuliffe. Patton broke-through into Bastogne, and the 101st said that they could've held out from the German. Patton was one of the best tank commanders in World War II. He was a good commander, nicknamed " Old Blood and Guts "

He always made bad remarks about the other allies. So basically, General Patton was a great general appointed under General Eisenhower to fight the Germans in World War II.

General George S. Patton played an important role all throughout World War II.

In the beginning phases of WW II, Patton trained troops in the deserts of Southern California and Arizona. Due to it's likeness of North Africa, Patton trained troops, specifically in tanks, for battle in Europe. After serving here, he moved to North Africa to eventually defeated the Axis Powers.

Patton's relentless drive and military genius led to many Allied victories. Patton was a hard nosed general that believed in the swift attack, and did not believe in holding ground, but continued attack was the key to victory, and he proved it to be true.His command of Third Army in their drive across France and Germany was brilliant, and ultimately led to the surrender of Germany.

Years after the war, former enemies declared him our best commander, and admitted they feared him more than any Allied commander.

He was one of the main generals in the Mediterranean Theater from 1942 to 1944 and the Western Front of the European Theater from 1944 to 1945. He led to American armies during this time.
