Latin heavily influenced the Languages if Italy, Gaul (France), Hispania (Spain) Lusitania (Portugal) and Dacia (Romania). So much so that the modern languages of these countries are derived from Latin. Latin probably influenced the languages of other areas of the Roman Empire, but these were replaced by languages of the the conquests and large scale immigrations of Germanic peoples, Slavs and Arabs into areas of the Roman Empire. Latin was also the language of administration throughout the empire. Latin influenced the everyday life of Greece only in so far as it was the language of administration. It did not influence the Greek language. The Romans elites received an education in both Latin and Greek and were fluent in Greek.
