Why did Edgar allan poe write the fall of the house of usher?

It is believed that, 'The fall of the house of usher' contains information and hints about his own life. Roderick Usher, seems to be an image of Poe himself and Madeline Usher, Roderick's twin, seems to be an image of Virginia Clemm, Poe's first cousin and child bride.

Possibly curiosity? At the beginning of the story he states how the house makes him feel which is indescribable. He then continues his journey requested to him by his childhood friend. The house is creepy looking and has this gloom over it so why else would he stay there other than to cure his curiosity? Just like when you watch a movie and you see someone walk into the dark basement because they heard a noise and you're thinking to yourself "why?!"

Obviously the person going into the basement is frightened but continues to walk down the stairs simply because their curiosity is getting to the best of them. After all, curiosity killed the cat.

This is also very similar to Poe's life because he married his cousin, Virginia.
