"Abril despedaçado" is a Portuguese equivalent of "Broken April."

The Portuguese and the English phrases are translations of the title of a novel by Albanian author and poet Ismail Kadare (b. January 28, 1936). The novel has a publication date of 1978, but is set in the northern Albanian mountainous landscape of the 1930s. A film version, as part of a joint Brazilian, French and Swiss co-production, has a release date of 2001. But its setting is adapted to a similar culture of tragic blood feuds in rural Brazil.
