Twilight is a series of books by Stephenie Meyer detailing the relationship between an immortally 17 year old vampire, Edward and a human girl, Bella. As to why some people hate it, I'm unsure. I feel it's just an issue of personal taste and I for one heartily recommend them as a rewarding read.

It's also about the evil vampires, James, Victoria, and Laurent, trying to kill her. The conflict between Bella and Edward, and these vampires, begins when James tries to kill Bella because he is attracted to her delicious-smelling blood. When Edward kills James to protect Bella, Victoria wants to get at Edward by killing Bella, his love, because James was her love. And guess what gets mixed in with it all? Bella's best friend, Jacob, is a werewolf, the sworn enemy to vampires! Too much for one teenager, huh? READ TWILIGHT!!!!!

Why do people hate James from The Twilight Saga?
James is one of the first 'bad guys' that we meet in the Twilight Saga. His character is written to be fairly hate-able because he has set out to destroy/cause serious harm to the main character of the book. People hate James for that reason in addition to the fact that it's just their opinion which is severely 'biased' because of how the story is written.
