Eminere is a Latin equivalent of 'to stand out'. Another equivalent is exstare. Both verbs also have the literal meaning of 'to project'. But 'eminere' has the additional, looser translation as 'to be conspicuous, remarkable'. One of its Latin derivatives therefore is 'eminentia', which means 'eminence' in English.
