Wi-fi no matter where you go
Not with Sprint 3G it can not. For a USA 3G connection it has to be AT&T. For WiFi it can connect with a WiFi signal. Depends. If you mean Sprint's regular broadband service, then a PS Vita can connect and go online via a wireless router. However if you mean 3G connectivity, Sony has announced that AT&T will be the only mobile carrier that supports the Vita in the US.

If you don't care at all about any of the online functionality, then you'd be better off with the cheaper wi-fi Vita. If you do want to go online with the Vita, then you'd need the 3G version, but keep in mind that the 3G service is a paid service with a monthly fee, from a phone company.
