AMD's Hyper Transport Technology
In Intel systems- the Front Side Bus In AMD systems- Hyper Transport
A Hyper Transport (HT) bus is a bus technology developed by AMD Inc. and used in microprocessors as a low-latency, high-speed, point-to-point link specifically designed to increase the communication speed between the components in a computer system, servers, embedded systems, and networking and telecommunications equipment at up to 48 times compared to older or existing transport technology.Hyper Transport is packet-based, and it sends data in a packet that consists of 32-bit words. It also has power management and is compliant with advanced configuration and power interface specifications.
Different CPUs communicate in different ways. Intel processors (Pentiums, Core2, etc) communicate to the chipset using the Front Side Bus. AMD processors communicate to the chipset using Hyper Transport.
They have improved their core technology with new and improved AMD processor structure. The New line of AMD processors in the HIGH-END range is now faster than Intel Core i technology.
AMD is a semiconductor design innovator based in California. They were established in 1969 and now employ around 10, 000 people worldwide. AMD launched their Eyefinity technology in July 2011.
3DNOW is the technology that AMD processors use for multimedia instruction set.
