There is no such thing as "an unbalanced force". A single force by itself is not

balanced or unbalanced.

A group of two or more forces is balanced if all the individual forces in the group

add up to zero. Example: You push a shopping cart forward, while I push it backward.

A group of two or more forces is unbalanced if all the individual forces in the group

don't add up to zero. Example: You push a shopping cart forward while a mouse

pushes it backward.

Newton's Third Law states that, for every force, there is an equal and opposite force.

This argues the point that there is no such thing as an unbalanced force.

Imagine a mass that you drop from an airplane. The forces that act upon it in the instance of dropping are simply the gravitational attraction of the earth. Hence we have unbalanced forces that make the mass accelerate from 0 velocity to a higher one. It wil continue to build up speed until it hits the ground.

(we are omitting air resistance)

A force that brings an object into motion is called unbalanced force. This happens when force acting on a body in different directions are not equal or balanced. An example of unbalanced force is- when a person pushes i.e applies force on a heavy box, it does not move because of the frictional force acting in the opposite direction of force applied. If the box is pushed still harder, the pushing force becomes bigger than frictional force and the box starts moving. Here, pushing force and frictional force are unequal or unbalanced.

A seesaw experience an unbalanced force in the direction it is moving. This is because?æ of unbalanced force due to weight of a body that is placed on it.
