Because there's essentially no place to use currency on the continent -- no commercial enterprises, and because there is no sovereignty on the continent, there is no 'Antarctic currency'.

People may purchase items, however, that are for sale and the currency used is the currency of the transaction.

There are no regular cities in Antarctica, only research stations. To the extent there is anything to buy it'd probably be in the currency of whatever nationality that is operating the research station.

There is no official Antarctic currency.

Many nations attempt to exude sovereignty over 'slices' of Antarctica by printing currency, postage stamps and so forth, to solidify their land claims.

The Antarctic Treaty (1961) holds all existing claims in abeyance and prohibits future land claims. This makes printed and coined currency and postage stamps mere collectibles.

Generally, as well, there is no place to spend money in Antarctica. Wages earned by science workers there are generally deposited in banks in the home country of the worker.

No. Antarctica is not a country, there is no sovereignty on the continent to support a currency.

There are governments and private individuals who print currency, stamps and so forth, so as to exude ownership of territory on the continent, or to profit from collectors.

There is no nation-state in Antarctica to produce any Antarctic currency -- or stamps or flags.

Cash transactions that take place in the different research stations use the currency of the government that supports the station.

Antarctica is not a sovereign land, so there is no national currency. The currency of the supporting nation is used in the individual research stations on the continent.
