Borean Tundra is one of the two starting zones in Northrend. Each faction has a starting city that contains quests, vendors and nearly all the grand master profession trainers. The zone is a decent sized zone with lots of beasts running around in large packs, making it a good place to raise a players skinning profession.

Yes, Hawks exist in World of Warcraft and can be tamed by hunters. For example, there are Brown Hawks in Borean Tundra which fit the general Hawk theme well. More Eagle-like birds can be found in the Tundra, as well as in Sholazar Basin and Grizzly Hills. There are no birds which are really hawk-like before Northrend, despite some of them being named "hawks".

The Oculus is a 5-man wing of the Nexus in Coldarra (a subregion of Borean Tundra in Northrend) designed for level 80 players. The Oculus a series of "magical rings" that float above the ground and the first instance to allow players the use of certain flying mounts. The gate of the oculus is located directly above the nexus gate, requiring the rampway to reach.
Not really due to the fact it is over farmed but depending on the server you play on it can sell alot. It just depends on how many people on your server are either leather workers or farm it to sell.
The Coldarra is a rather large sub-zone in Borean Tundra featuring the Nexus/Oculus Instances and the 10 man raid Eye of Eternity. The area is reached via quest during which you grab the fligh point at the Transitus Shield, so you can come back anytime. You must discover the flight path at Amber Ledge before you can discover the one at Transitus Shield.
If you are talking about the travelers tundra mount (the mount with the vendors), you have to kick the vendors out first, then your friends can get in.
