The variety of climates together with soil and drainage conditions are reflected in Brazil's vegetation. In the Amazon Basin and in those places along the Atlantic coast where the rainfall is very heavy, there is tropical rain forest composed of broadleaf evergreen trees growing luxuriantly. The rain forest is made up of a great many different species, as many as 3,000 in a sq. mile (2.6 sq. km). In the lowlands and plateaus of the eastern coast where rainfall is slightly less and the dry season is really dry, there is semi-deciduous forest, where the trees are smaller than in the rain forest and lose their leaves in the dry season. In the semi-arid northeast, the caatinga, a dry bush, predominates. The greater portion of the central part of Brazil is covered with a woodland savanna known as the cerrado. This is a special type of land combining sparse scrub trees and dryness resistant grasses. In the south, needle-leafed pine woods (Paraná-pine or Araucária) cover the highlands; grassland covers the sea-level plains. The Mato Grosso swamplands (Pantanal Mato-grossense), a plain which covers 88,803 sq. miles (230,000 sq. km) in the western portion of the center of the country, is covered in tall grasses, weeds, and widely dispersed trees. Large patches of it are submerged during the rainy season. The Amazon Basin and the Pantanal Mato-Grossense, already much altered by man's actions, constitute two of the world's largest biological reserves.

Mercurys terrain is Hilly and Lineated Terrain. Sometimes, it is called the Chaotic Terrain, because it looks pretty chaotic. The Hilly and Lineated Terrain covers perhaps 360,000 square kilometers of Mercury's surface and consists of massifs filled with hills ranging, in some cases, nearly two kilometers high and several kilometers across. The hills have an appearance of almost rectangular blocks. Many ancient craters in the area are ruined by whatever event created the chaotic nature of this part of Mercury's surface.Mercury has a crater like terrain. It has been hit by so many craters that it has lost 0.1% of its diameter.

Besides the general statement that "both countries are warmer than the US", their physical characteristics are quite different: while Mexico is crisscrossed by several mountain ranges, Brazil tends to be flat; this in turn results in very different types of climate and terrain. For example, Mexico has several rivers, but due to the hilly terrain, most of these are short and innavigable; on the other side, Brazil's terrain allows for an extensive network of rivers, such as the Amazon, Paraguay and Uruguay rivers. Brazil is crossed by the Equator, so it tends to be of warmer and more humid nature (Köppen Af, Am and Aw tropical climates) while Mexico is divided on temperate and subtropical climates due to the Tropic of Cancer, allowing for a more extensive variety, such as subtropical grassland (Cfa), subtropical highland (Cwb) or desert (Bwh).
