This is a slightly incorrect way to refer to the case that the hardware is contained in, usually made of some kind of conductive metal for grounding purposes. It does contain the CPU (central processor unit) but a more correct name would be "system case" or "computer case". It is also sometimes known as a "tower" or "box"
