What is California's economy?

If it was a stand alone country only eight other world countries would have a greater GDP than California. It has a current Gross State Product of 1.812 trillion dollars and it represents 13 percent of the US GDP. It also has serious problems with financing the state government and has a budget defecit of abouit 16 billion dollars in the 2008 to 2009 fiscal year.
