A style is a pre-defined combination of formats. For a cell, this can include the colour of the cell, the number formatting, the text alignment, the font formats, borders etc. You can modify existing styles to suit your needs.

It is the icon you click to slect the style you would like to apply to the cell.

It does not multiply the cell by anything. The cell just appears in percentage format, but the value is not changed. It may appear to be multiplied by 100, but that is only because 1 = 100%.
