If you are referring to the mythological being Charon. The story is that he was charged with ferrying the dead across the river Styx. However after fulfilling his duty for centuries the power of his boat/faerie began to merge with his very soul and flesh. You can no longer distinguish where Charon ends and his boat begins. Legend has it that all that is left of him now is made of wood and again, part of the very faerie itself.

Charon orbits once every time Pluto rotates once. Other moons(including ours)don't do that.
