Dog What is DLPP?
DLPP stands for Distemper, Leptospirosis, Parvovirus and
Parainfluenza. A DLPP is a combination vaccine given to prevent
these diseases. Parvo and Distemper especially are highly
contagious. The only one you may not need to vaccinate for is
leptospirosis. Dogs can get lepto from ponds, run off, ditches,
stale standing water. Lepto vaccine also has a higher chance of
causing an allergic reaction, so it is wise to not give it unless
your dog absolutely need it. It is now known to be more prudent to
vaccinate your dog every three years as opposed to the previous
practise of every year.
