She is known to us because she was the Roman goddess of the wilderness, wild animals, the hunt and virginity; her Greek equivalent is Artemis.
Diana the Huntress is a mythical being.

Huntress is a supporting character, apparently Good type, in Wonder Woman. Therefore she has teamed up with the title Amazon on occasion. the odd thing is that Wonder Woman"s real name- Diana -was the huntress or hunting-goddess in Greco-Roman mythology- they also had Artemis- but main Huntress was Diana- now Wonder Woman is Princess Diana/Diana Prince. Huntress is another character- but Diana was associated with the hunt in Greco-Roman myth.

Atalanta.
Virgin huntress, goddess of the light of the moon, goddess of the wilderness, goddess of animals.
The Archer[bow and arrows being shot by man, if a woman , would signify Diana, the huntress].
As far as can be ascertained from cover art and excerpts- I have never read an entire story on her, The Huntress appears to be a positive or Good Girl character, something of a costume crime fighter akin to BatGirl, I believe her name is/was Artemis, a Greco Roman hunting deity. Diana was also linked with Hunters, but Diana Prince- is Wonder Woman.

There is no such naval vessel! Possibly a Huntress sub- an alternate term for Diana, the Goddess of the Hunt ( and evidentally linked with the hunter constellation Orion-How did an Irishman get up on Mount Olympus, well he was out hunting. I do think there is or was an H.M.S. ( British) Huntress. - a sub.
