What do you do if an elephant charges?
A proper charge from an African elephant is generally silent
with its trunk tucked away under its forelegs, and its ears flat
against its head. If the target is a human it will generally knock
its foe over and then tusk, head-but or knee the victim to death.
Warning charges, (often incorrectly termed "mock" charges) are
normally accompanied by vocalisation, much ear flapping, and trunk
waving. The elephant pulls up short of its target, generally
creating much dust. It is certainly intimidating behaviour. Peter
