Fe(OH)3 is plain old rust. It is made when iron reacts with water and oxygen. Its called electrochemical corrosion:
Cathode reaction: O2 + 2H2O + 4e- --> 4OH-
Anode reaction: Fe --> Fe3+ + 3e-
Fe3+ + 3OH- --> Fe(OH)3
Iron III hydroxide
The balanced equation for this reaction is Fe2O3 + 3 H2O = 2 Fe(OH)3.
It isn't.There are no Roman numerals in it.Fe = Iron (from Latin 'ferrum')O = OxygenH = Hydrogen3 = Arabic numeral.
3Fe + 4(H2O) ---> Fe3O4 + 4(H2) You really should learn this, its not that hard =D
