Answer 1The Earth was not created, it formed naturally via gravity in the accretion disk surrounding the supernova that resulted from the formation of the sun. There was no purpose for the creation of the Earth, as purpose implies a pre-existing intelligence. Answer 2From a New Age religious viewpoint: The earth was designed and created specifically for human habitation. In the beginning there were dinosaurs. God cared for and provided for them They were allowed to flourish and multiply for many years. At some point their population reached a sort of high level and when there was just enough them they were destroyed. It was at this time when the earth was ' ..without form and void ' of life. Their carcasses were scattered over the earth and used to fertilize the soil. Dinosaurs are the main reason for why we are able to grow things today. Next came all the vegetation, insects and every creeping thing, rodents, reptiles, the animals and eventually humans. Answer 3From one Islamic viewpoint: Earth was formed for a very good reason! It was not the BIG BANG, or the Dinosaurs, or any other scientific "interpretation" that made life possible!

God was the one who created everything we see... He gave wisdom to us -people- so that we can live and recognize the wonders He created around us. God created us so that we may have the chance to know Him, and later abide in His heaven.

23. He will not be questioned as to that which He doeth, but they will be questioned.

56. I created the jinn and humankind only that they might worship Me.

57. I seek no livelihood from them, nor do I ask that they should feed Me.

58. Lo! Allah! He it is that giveth livelihood, the Lord of unbreakable might.

Answer 4From a Latter-day Saint Christian [Mormon] viewpoint: First let us establish one useful thing re the "How" before we move on to the "Why". God did not create the earth, but organized it from materials which were already there. He brought them together under His command, for all material has to obey a higher law - God.

Now as to "Why": He organized this earth so that He could bring about the immortality and eternal life of His (already existent) spirit children. We could not be proved nor could we be saved in heaven while while living with God. We had to prove ourselves as independents to be worthy of reward and glory. Also, as mere spirits only, we could see that God, Our Father, had an Immortal, Glorified Body of flesh and bone. And we wanted to be like our Father. Without such a body, we cannot experience a "Fullness of Joy": spirits only are extremely limited in the measure of Joy they can attain to.

So God created a physical earth whereon we could receive bodies and learn to control and grow our bodies, and learn to choose the right when not in His presence - to prove ourselves, you might say.

If we prove worthy over this [granted] lifetime ... if we repent and learn to grow and "overcome" - both physically and spiritually, we will prove ourselves worthy to return into His presence Forever - not just as spirits, but as complete Beings, progressed - worthy to receive Immortal glorified bodies - as Jesus: "Joint heirs with Christ in all that the Father hath" (as promised in the Book of Romans). As we call upon God to forgive us and put into effect, in our lives, the death, atonement and resurrection of Jesus Christ, being literal spirit children of God, we can become like Him, as we also become clean before God.

The Creation and placement of the earth forms a major part of this whole process for us to progress and become like our dear Father in Heaven.

There is no revealed account of the spirit creation - though it has been revealed that we all undertook one - only an account of this temporal [physical] creation in which we are all taking part, each treading the path that we are choosing, day to day, to travel upon. These paths will either bring us closer to God or take us further away. Which ever one we choose, we will prove ourselves worthy to return to Him, or otherwise - a glory and Kingdom with God, or a lesser Mansion (Kingdom) in the eternal world.

It has been given to each to choose - freely - what we believe and desire.

Answer 5

The present purpose is to teach man all about evil for his character development into Children of God. If he doesn't know the limitless depths of evil, misery, suffering and death... he can't know limitless love, mercy and forgiveness? Man needs to develop the character and discipline to CHOOSE THE GOOD and REJECT THE EVIL.

And when this earth is finally cleansed and purified by fire and re-made... it will be the "Center of the Universe," with the very throne of God the Father headquatered here:

"...I John saw the Holy City, New Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband... Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and HE WILL DWELL WITH THEM, and they shall be His people, and GOD HIMSELF SHALL BE WITH THEM, and be their God." (Rev.21:2-3)

God was, (and still is!!!), very important and holy and wanted to be worshiped. He is the only god and is the only livinggod. God needed land for the person that He made, Adam, to live on. (He made Adam because He wanted someone to praise Him for all the things He did and created. If that sounds confusing, it may help to know that God has a plan for EVERY SINGLE THING that He does and will do!) My idea is that God made the universe because he wanted to make it more spectacular and worth it for Adam to be made. That is my opinion. My suggestion? Look in The Bible! Smartest thing you can do!!! Perhaps the best book of the Bible to read from for this subject is Genesis.

Answer 2

God isn't real to EVERYONE! We don't know because we weren't living back then. There is proof that life lived before God was ever around.

Answer 3

For God's own mere good pleasure and to expand His kingdom.

I think that the universe shows the might and power and glory of God. That there is not anything that is beyond His mighty power. For what other purpose other than that we do not know. This earth was created as the home of us; his children so that we might prove ourselves worthy to return to Him and go on ourselves from glory to glory.

That there are other worlds like our own I am sure. For Gods children are innumerable. His creations are unnumbered and stretch from eternity to eternity. I too believe that the universe is designed. It's laws are finely tuned, so it must be designed for purpose(s) which are enumerated below: 1) To display the awesome power of its designer--although he himself is unobservable; 2) To provide space for all the planets, stars, and what have you in the universe; 3) To provide an avenue of exploration--even puzzle--for all intelligent creatures. Perhaps even to provide raw materials in the future both for humans and other intelligent beings.

His purpose was to create "good heavens" and a "good earth." Genesis 1-2 contain two accounts of creation, the order of man's creation coming at the end in the first and at the beginning in the second. Both creation stories feature people at center stage. God's creation, good as it was, soon became bad through human rebellion against God. Genesis 11 ends by introducing Terah, the father of Abram, through whom God would bless the world. The link between creation and redemption is clear. The Psalmist's concerns with God as Creator were related to people's place in creation, to God's redemptive activity, and to praise for the Creator.

There was no purpose for the creation of the Earth, as purpose implies a pre-existing intelligence. Science tells us that the Earth naturally formed from an accretion of hot gases around the Sun.

Why do humans respond emotionally to beautiful sights? And why are painters, sculptors, or musicians motivated emotionally (even beyond monetary need) - to create works of beauty? We are created in the image of God (Genesis ch.5), and God himself is a master artist, who (we intuit) enjoys beauty and has made this beautiful world (see Genesis 1:31). The best human efforts to create beauty are a pale reflection of God's own designs. We respond to them because we are made in the Creator's image.
God made the Earth for people: "He did not create [the earth] simply for nothing," but "formed it to be inhabited" (Isaiah 45:18). He wanted them to exist in order to have someone to love. When the righteous use their free-will to obey God despite His being hidden, they have shown that they deserve His love. Their reward will never cease. But even the undeserving are given the kindness of life in this world, and the lifelong ability to repent.See also:

From the very beginning of the only Creation story of the Bible - in fact it is speaking primarily of the re-creation story - God has planned to create a family. This is why mankind was made after the 'God-kind' and not any animal kind as evolutionist teach. We are given a little bit of godly essence to empower our brains - mind power - which allows us to have immense imagination and the ability to create from that. We know we know unlike all other creatures.

The Scripture is replete with verses speaking to our repenting and being baptized which allows us to receive God's Holy Spirit - in effect being begotten just like our perfect example, Jesus was. We then grow in the Spirit doing God's good works. We are told of the resurrection of the firstfruits at Christ's 2nd Coming - changing in a twinkling of an eye into spirit born sons and daughters. Then the great White Throne Judgement process where the vast majority of the 'harvest' of mankind will be joined to God as His children.

God's purpose for we lowly humans is to become members of the God Family.

2 Corinthians 6:18New King James Version (NKJV)18 I will be a Father to you,
And you shall be My sons and daughters,
Says the Lord Almighty. [a]

Stephen Hawking, possibly the greatest physicist of our time, says (The Grand Design) that because there are laws such as gravity, the universe can and will create itself from nothing. This is the essence of the Big Bang, from which the whole universe emerged.
