The Chinese have a sort of "Halloween" called Yue Lan, or The Festival of Hungry Ghosts. This festival involves giving food and gifts to the spirits of deceased relatives to ward them off. And before you say, "Oh, that's strange," keep in mind that Samhain - the pagan festival that Halloween gets most of it's roots from - began on many of the same traditions.

They don't celebrate Halloween, they celebrate Yue Lan(Mandarin, lit: "Festival of the Hungry Ghosts"). On Yue Lan, many people will offer money, food, and other gifts to the spirits of departed relatives, in order to ward them off. It has ties to Buddhism.
