Being a tropical climate, Hawaii has many plants known elsewhere in the world in similar zones, such as the coconut tree, breadfruit, bananas, mangoes, papayas, all of which are introduced plants. Some of the earliest plants which arrived here without human help, that is by wind, wave or wings of birds, survived and evolved into unique species now considered endemic, or found nowhere else in the world.
Some are native, some are introduced.
The Hibiscus is Hawaii's official state flower.
