Though Hiram Bingham (also known as Hiram Bingham III) accomplished much in his life as a teacher at Yale, United States Senator, and even a treasure hunter, he is best known for his exploration, discovery and ultimate public revealing of the Incan City of Machu Piccu. Following his discovery, the South American locality became a popular tourist attraction.
