Jamaican dishes are influenced from different backgrounds such as the indigenous people on the island, the british, french, spanish, africans, Indians and Chinese. The Jamaican cuisine includes different cooking techniques. Some of the popular dishes of this country include curry goat, fried dumplings, ackee and salt fish (cod), fried plantain, steamed cabbage and rice and peas. The cuisine of Jamaica has also spread to several other countries on the American continent with immigrations especially in the 20th century.
