Depends on where you are at. It is much greener the farther east you go. Fairly populated around Kansas City and Topeka. Heading west after Topeka, it is pretty desolate. Lots of fields and farms and scarcely populated. Put it this way, it's one of the only states to still offer federal land grants, so the scenery is not that great.

Kansas is mostly farming and livestock land. Mostly flat plains, but lots of tree's. The landscape of Kansas: Rolling hills and small valleys. Right now Western Kansas has a few more trees than when I lived there over fifty years ago. At that time because of the lack of trees, shrubbery and things of that nature, dust storms were prevalent and caused a lot of soil erosion. There are many smaller towns in Western Kansas and a lot of wheat farms and cattle ranches. There are also large cities like Wichita and Kansas City. The further East you go the more high the hills are. There are no mountainous areas like there are when you get into Colorado and on West.

Well, it's really hard to answer this question short. I have lived in Kansas all of my life, and don't get me wrong, I do love other states and their beautiful cities, but Kansas has just grown to be a comfortable, friendly and happy state that I never want to leave. I find it VERY ignorant that many people from other states out of the Midwest have asked me stereotypical questions like "Do you live on a farm? How many tornadoes have you seen in your life? Are you a cowboy? Do you ride a tractor or a horse to school?" Just for their information, more than 60 percent of Kansans do NOT live on farms, and we certainly (especially the city people) are NOT cowboys! Some people just assume that "Kansas" means cowboys, rodeos, funny accents and other country things like that. Actually, you will always hear a Midwestern accent on the news, because it is the most easy accent to understand, so if you're wondering what we sound like, just listen to your news channel. As for what Kansas is like, it depends on what part you're talking about. There's the Western side of Kansas, with hilly regions, it is probably the most beautiful part of Kansas along with Central Kansas, because of the Flint Hills. Kansas City, KS, is the better side of Kansas City. Of course, Kansas City is the BBQ Capital of the world, so if you're looking to find some delicious ribs, come to KC. In KC MO, the Plaza, an enormous and totally awesome place, has amazing views, and it's Christmas decorations display is MAGNIFICENT! The Plaza also contains the most fountains in the world right behind Spain. More places to check out if you're even in KC are the Legends, Zona Rosa (both outdoor shopping centers), the Oak Park Mall, (in Overland Park, KS, just a few miles outside of KC ) Crown Center and Union Station (both in KC) The Power and Light District (in KC) The College Basketball Experience (if you have kids who want to have a ton of fun and you happen to be in the Power and Light District) the Kansas City Zoo, Swope Park, Antioch Park, The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, and many more. Kansas is a fairly flat state with many farms. I have seen some beautiful pictures of farms with sunflowers.
