Lenox school "Lenox School for Boys" was started by the Episcopal church in the years prior to WWII. Right from the beginning, it was an earnest community of students and teachers as epitomized by the school motto, "To serve, Not to be served." Lenox served 2nd formers through 6th formers. Though academically rigorous, athletics was also stressed and the offerings were numerous, from sailing, fencing, squash to skiiing, hockey, and soccer, let alone football, and tennis! Lenox closed its doors in the early 1970's, unable to negotiate the new youth of the 1970's and their inherent issues in a time of a tight economy. It continues to exist in he memories of its past students and through its physical location, in the beautiful Berkshires, in the town of Lenox, across the road and down the hill from chapel at Trinity Church, past Bassett, Schermerhorn, Thayer, St. Lawrence, St. Martins, and to the Field House, etc..
