Provenant is related to the word provenance[prov-in-anss] n place of origin. Plants that are naturally local to my area. Native means from the country, it does not mean from your part of the country. Endemic means this plant species grows in your area, it does not mean a particular plant is from your area, It may be the same species from your area but it might have a different genetic makeup to the plants in your area. Provenant means from your area, It has grown from the seed of a plant that evolved all its traits in your area, and is thus of local provenance. Everything in the Bush Regeneration industry relates to encouraging the growth of provenant plants. Native should never be used to describe the word endemic and endemic should never be used to describe the word provenant. For Clarity purposes a provenant plant should in scientific circumstances be referred to as a provenant endemic native plant, because a plant titled only as endemic native reveals no evidence of being of actual local origin.

Provenant[prov-in-ant] In relation to plants. From a specific location within a plants endemic range grown from the seed of a plant that evolved all of its traits in that area.

Why do people insist on growing weeds?

Naivety, ignorance or contempt. People think a plant is "Pretty" so they buy it and plant it in their garden. They haven't realised that the nursery is actively encouraging the destruction of their local bushland. Exotic nurseries sell plants under the guise of "drought tolerant" or "easy maintenance". Generally speaking this really means will be spread by seed and outcompete your local bushland. These nurseries also sell "Natives". But don't be fooled. For starters Native means from your country. It does not mean from your area in the country. And a plant that is endemic to your area but growing a long way away is not provenant to your area, it probly has a different genetic makeup to the provenant ones even though it may be the same species. A better way to describe local plants is Indigenous, endemic or provenant, although this termininology itself is by no means perfect. In most nurseries "Native" means Hybridised and genetically modified/manipulated cultivars. The Provenant plants are purposefull ie. they play an important role in your local ecosystem. If/When these Mutant natives that the nurseries have grown breed with the Provenant ones they are destroying the local gene pool. And can not be killed by bush regenerators because they can not be identified as weeds. A good example of that is with Grevillias. Exotic plant nurseries also encourage people to grow Natives that are not endemic to the area, So plants like Acacia saligna from the west coast of Australia are now terrible weeds in Eastern Australia. These are also very hard to I'D from Provenant endemic indigenious natives. They might only be a different species of a genus or even just a different subspecies, with very little difference in its identifiable features. Also the government makes it expensive to get Indigenous seed collecting licences, for reasonable reasons.

Where can you purchase Ceratopetalum?

You can buy cultivated Ceratopetalum at most plant nurseries in NSW Australia. cultivated means genetically modified in order to further " Beautify" nature. These can breed with Provenant Ceratopetalums in the wild and in doing so could do a lot of damage to the functionality of your local bushland. Avoid cultivars by buying the original provenant indigenious variety from your local council. and enjoy the beauty of your local bushland in your home garden. I assume you are looking for gummiferum the other one in my area is COACHWOOD. there are 5 species I think all in Australia.

What plants can grow under a casuarina?

Not many plants grow under casuarinas because of the needles. Plants dont have to grow everywhere, Apart from human cleared areas casuarina needles create some of the few gaps in the forest for animals to hang out in. I could tell you which species grow naturally under them in my area. But they may not be endemic to your area. There are a number of invasive weeds that are able to grow under Casuarinas. These are terrible plants and I certainly dont want people to grow them. Ehrharta erecta, Cyperus, Bidens pilosa. Plants can grow from runners or suckers in Casuarina needles also. An example of a tree that can grow by suckering through Casuarina needles is the Casuarina. =] . Go out and see what grows under them naturally in your area, and if you are going to grow some yourself insure that they are provenant to your area. read - What is provenant? I only propagate endemic provenant indigenous plants. I dislike people who treat plants like toys. "OW Look isn't that JESSAMINE pretty , I'm going to plant it everywhere because I'm an *&^%$#@". Know what I mean?

How you can help conserve nature?

Buy a house with a big backyard and plant some trees, build bird houses, bat houses and maybe add a pond. Keep it safe from development. Stop buying and growing weeds, understand the land owns you and you don't own the land, and respect that and help mother nature heel the wounds that we have created. PLANT PROVENANT / PROVENANCE plants ie dont plant hybrid GM natives.

How soil quality are improved?

By adding elements that particular plants like. If your soil is the original soil to your area leave it exactly the way it is and grow endemic provenant plants in it instead of stupid exotic hybrid rubbish plants. or add stuff and grow vege's. also airation is a good way to help plants grow in soil and of course moisture will help, unless you like to grow cactus, in which case it would not help now would it. ow and worms and plant food can help. but as aid before natural is best.

What kind of flowers are in a garden?

Provenant indigenous plants. otherwise known as "Native" plants. They grow naturally in your area, they are purposefull in your local ecosystem and apart of your local plant community. Insure that the seed is from your area so that the plant has developed all its traits in your area and is thus perfectly adapted to the areas climate and soil type.

What is the best way to reduce threats from invasive species?

The best thing you could do is eradicate them as early as possible before they spread. For example 3 seeds of a foreign plant are brought to your country and dropped in the park down the road from your house. They grow and become small trees. You recognise them as a foreign trees or at least trees that aren't locally provenant, so you I'D. them correctly, and it turns out that they are nasty invasive species. You could do 2 things, one, let them set seed and proliferate throughout your community destroying your bushland. or, you could kill the 3 plants and save your local bushland with minimal physical effort or use of local resources. Same with animals. And the same on a larger scale. for example these plants have dropped their seed and spread all around the park. You could do nothing and let them keep spreading into other parks or you could start a plan of management and get in there and try to kill as many as you can and stop it from seeding and proliferating. The greater the number of different invasive plants or animals the more complex the removal process becomes and professional advise must be sought. Sometimes amateurs remove large amounts of for example Lantana camara but underneath the lantana is the seed of many herbacious invasive weeds which grow and seed faster than the people can remove them. The seeds of the herbacious weeds then become terribly invasive in the surrounding land or properties. In which case killing small amounts of Lantana at a time may have been a better option. Lantana can also provide habitat for small birds in areas that all their natural habitat has been removed. THINK OF THE ECOSYSTEM AS ONE WHOLE. =]

How do humans affect the arctic?

AnswerWhen humans move vehicles or walk across the soil or the little vegetation it has, it destroys the permafrost and vegetation just moving the Tundra farther back in the succesion progress. They introduce invasive plants and animals to compete with the endemic provenant ones for growing space.
